New samples are great!

I like the original a lot as well, very cute (meant as a compliment). The new arrangement should be sent to the EWQL site as an example of just how good the samples really are.

BTW, it's not just the samples that are great, you arranged them well. Great job!

I love this

This piece is as unique as the name you assigned to it. I agree with KB's review about the orchestration, it is particularly masterful. The piece itself has a good mischevious vibe to it. Reminds me a bit of John Williams soundtrack to Witches of Eastwick.

Excellent work!

Driving, good action music

Excellent work! I especially like the section at 1:30 with the ostinato exposed for a shor time before the solo violin comes in. The only reason I didn't give you a ten is that I feel it drags a bit from time to time, despite a very good ostinato. Other than that great work!

As an aside, I think your music deserves to be heard. I especially liked Streets of Tomorrow.

IglicaV responds:

Thank You for your comment : ) I hope that It will be heard someday, and I'm very glad that you think the same. And thank you for your opinion on my ostinatos!

Very good

Despite a very simple melody and harmonoic structure, you created a really pretty little piece. Just goes to show that sometimes simple is better.

Thank you for your kind words jpops !

Stunningly good!

What a fantastic trio, while they don't "go" together all that well, and transitions between segments would be nice, each was great on its' own. They sounded a bit like a cross between Ravel and Bernard Hermann, a great combo indeed! Excellent work.

sinequanon responds:

ravel and hermann! interesting, not a bad pedigree. unfortunately i'm not sure i could write transitions if i wanted to, the relevant files were probably lost when my last computer crashed. thanks jaypoppers!

Pretty good.

All in all the sounds are fairly realistic and you use dynamics fairly well. The biggest problem with this arrangement tends to be articulations. Many instruments attack with a "mwah" kind of attack and there could be more legato passages in general.

As an aside, this is one of my least favorite Ravel pieces. He was a fantastic composer and great orchestrater. Try some passages from Daphnis et Cloe for more practice.

sinequanon responds:

this is a strange piece compared to his general oeuvre, isn't it? unfortunately I worked GPO to the max here (within reasonable non-computer-busting limits) and couldn't work around the various sample quirks. i'm happy to hear, if i'm not mistaken, that you're also a GPO user so you'd be familiar with that experience.

that said i wouldn't dare touch Daphnis et Chloe with a computer, it would be diminished by sequencing in inverse proportion to its greatness.

Great!

The music beautifully evokes what you depicted in your description. I could easily see it as the background to segments of "Planet Earth".

My only crticism is the middle section. I feel you lost your way in there a bit (and only a little bit) and the solo string instrument (cello possibly) sounds a bit synthy. The recapitulation is just fine and it loops well.

Great work.

Simple, yet very cool.

Sometimes you don't have to get too fancy to get your message across. My only beef is that the horns are a bit too "edgy" for my taste. Great piece!
